ROYAL BELUM STATE PARK

Royal Belum State Park is located at the northern tip of Perak. The area of this forest reserve covers an area of 300, 000 hectares. The forest has not been divided into upper and lower parts. The upper part of the forest is not yet covered by 117, 500 hectares of dense forest area and the Thailand-Malaysia border. This vast forest area can be considered as a natural wall and is gazetted under the provisions of the National Forestry Act 1984. The Belum and Temenggor reserves are planning to grow again as the Perak Government has decided to maintain the area as a natural reserve for research purposes.

The upper part of the forest is not yet 90% unexplored while the lower part is usually covered by secondary forest.
